Job Overview:
The Bilingual Social Service Navigator will be an integral part of the Children’s Legal Services team in Dallas, focusing on providing essential referrals and support to unaccompanied minors who have been released to sponsors in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as young adults who have aged out of federal foster care custody. This role is crucial in identifying the service needs of these vulnerable populations and facilitating their access to appropriate community services, which may include assistance in education, housing, mental health, medical care, benefits, and other support related to their legal cases. The Social Service Navigator will work closely with a team of attorneys and legal program staff to provide direct legal services to children involved in immigration proceedings. The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to working with children and families, demonstrating patience and compassion while navigating the complexities of their situations. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, trauma-informed listening abilities, and a high level of organization and attention to detail. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Bilingual Social Service Navigator include, but are not limited to: assisting clients in accessing community resources and coordinating with IRC program staff and community partners to provide comprehensive wrap-around services; developing and nurturing partnerships with community organizations that focus on housing, education, employment, and special services for children and young adults; referring eligible clients to federal and state medical and financial benefit programs and accompanying clients to appointments when necessary; maintaining communication with clients to provide updates on case status, request necessary documents, schedule appointments, and manage other communications; occasionally assisting with legal cases as needed; preparing referral packages for children transitioning out of the local jurisdiction; ensuring that client records and documents are organized and complete; inputting data accurately and timely to meet internal and external program requirements; documenting all client contacts and activities as directed; participating in program meetings and staff development activities; adhering to all IRC policies and protocols; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Bilingual Social Service Navigator position include an undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in the social work or legal field.
