Job Overview:
The Logistics Associate G6 position at WFP involves providing specialized support and supervision to staff responsible for implementing standard processes and activities related to supply chain and logistics. The role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of goods and services across various operational modalities. The Logistics Associate will coordinate requests, manage logistics activities, and ensure timely delivery of products and supplies to authorized destinations. The Logistics Associate will also be involved in budget preparation, inventory management, and maintaining the quality and integrity of data related to product accounting. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized support to logistics operations and activities, applying standard processes to ensure effective food assistance delivery to beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate requests and ensure timely orders and deliveries of products and supplies to partners and authorized destinations.
  • Manage logistics activities related to supplier contracting, including performance tracking and measurement.
  • Support market information gathering and supplier evaluation to contribute to the selection process.
  • Identify and resolve inquiries and requests for specialized support, making recommendations to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
  • Prepare, monitor, and review budgets across all operational modalities, ensuring adherence to relevant procedures and compliance with institutional standards.
  • Track inventory management processes to monitor trends and report on inventory status from source to beneficiary.
  • Support the supervision of data quality and integrity related to product accounting.
  • Analyze operational portfolios and contribute to assessments and operational planning to address supply chain needs. 1
  • Manage documentation processing for logistics operations (e.g., customs clearance, invoice verification) and take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues. 1
  • Conduct research, data collection, and analysis, producing reports to ensure accurate information for decision-making. 1
  • Maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders to sustain logistics operations management and contribute to effective service delivery. 1
  • Supervise support staff, providing practical advice and guidance to ensure individual and collective objectives are met according to agreed standards and timelines. 1
  • Support logistics preparedness and response activities in emergencies, including updating logistics capacity assessments and contingency plans to support WFP's emergency response.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include the completion of secondary education, with additional education in fields such as Economics, Industrial Engineering, Transport Operations, or International Trade being preferred. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management principles is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to WFP's mission and values, and possess a customer-oriented mindset.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have completed their pre-university education cycle. A certificate of additional education in relevant fields such as Economics, Industrial Engineering, Transport Operations, or International Trade is preferred. Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of professional experience related to the functional area of logistics and supply chain management. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing logistics operations, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with institutional standards. Experience in maintaining institutional systems and executing queries related to ongoing shipments, supply chain information, and inventory management is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience in contract administration and budget tracking, as well as the ability to compile and analyze documentation related to contracts and logistics operations.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international colleagues and partners. Candidates who possess additional language skills may have an advantage in this role, particularly in a multicultural work environment.
