The IRC operates in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities, focusing on responding to the world's most severe humanitarian crises. The organization aims to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and empowerment to individuals affected by conflict and disaster. With a mission to help people survive, reclaim control of their futures, and strengthen their communities, the IRC employs a diverse workforce dedicated to delivering lasting impact and hope to millions of people worldwide.

Job Overview:
The position of Case Manager for Older Refugees is designed to support the Services for Older Refugees (SOR) program, which aims to enhance the integration and independent living of older humanitarian migrants. This role is critical in addressing the unique barriers that older individuals face in accessing community resources and support. The Case Manager will ensure that older populations have the necessary knowledge and resources to integrate into their communities effectively. This includes creating pathways for connection, accessing both mainstream and refugee-specific services, and facilitating naturalization processes. The Case Manager will be responsible for providing comprehensive case management, which includes assessing client needs, making referrals, and tracking progress over time. Additionally, the role involves supporting various classes and workshops at the IRC, such as citizenship preparation, English language classes, and digital literacy programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Case Manager will perform a variety of duties, including: conducting initial assessments of clients' needs and goals; providing comprehensive case management; assisting older ORR-eligible populations in accessing mainstream aging services; detailing client interactions according to program requirements; inputting client information into databases; building relationships with area service providers; creating opportunities for older refugees to live independently; assisting with applications for public benefits; providing referrals for civics and English classes; using personal or public transportation to travel and transport clients; training and leading volunteers; and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma, with a preference for those holding a bachelor's degree in social work or a related field. A minimum of one year of case management or human services experience is strongly preferred, particularly with refugee or immigrant populations. Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. Candidates should be self-starters with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of multitasking and managing time effectively. Attention to detail and accuracy in work is crucial, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital tools for data entry and research.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma as a minimum requirement. A bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred, indicating a higher level of education and understanding of the complexities involved in social services and case management.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in case management or human services, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked with refugee and immigrant populations. This experience is vital for understanding the unique challenges faced by older refugees and for effectively providing the necessary support and resources.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in languages spoken by the client group, such as Spanish, French, Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Swahili, and others, is highly desired, as it enhances communication and support for clients from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Notes:
The working environment for this position includes a combination of standard office work and community engagement, which may involve meetings with community partners. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required. The compensation package for this role is competitive and varies based on factors such as labor market conditions, job type, and individual candidate experience. The IRC offers a comprehensive benefits package for U.S.-based employees, including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, a retirement savings plan, and an Employee Assistance Program to support staff and their families during times of crisis.
