Job Overview: The position involves working under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer of Voluntarios ONU Bolivia. The primary function is to develop and systematize stories of United Nations volunteers. The selected individual will play a crucial role in identifying stories to be systematized and disseminated, conducting interviews with volunteers, writing articles, and creating audiovisual products. This role is essential for enhancing the visibility of volunteer contributions and ensuring that their experiences are effectively communicated to a broader audience. The position requires creativity, strong communication skills, and a passion for storytelling, as well as the ability to engage with diverse individuals and communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and systematize narratives of United Nations volunteers, ensuring their stories are accurately represented and effectively communicated.
Identify potential stories and volunteers to interview, facilitating the collection of impactful narratives.
Conduct interviews with volunteers, gathering insights and experiences that highlight their contributions to peace and development.
Write articles that capture the essence of volunteer work and its impact on communities.
Create audiovisual materials that showcase volunteer stories, enhancing engagement and outreach efforts.
Collaborate with the Communication Officer to align storytelling efforts with organizational goals and messaging.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving volunteer visibility and engagement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong writing and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to create compelling narratives. Experience in journalism, communications, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with audiovisual production is an asset. The ideal candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. A passion for volunteerism and a commitment to the values of the United Nations are essential.
Educational Background: A degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in storytelling, media production, or volunteer management would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in communications, journalism, or a related field. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in volunteer settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with the United Nations system and its values will be considered a plus.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the role will primarily involve communication in this language. Proficiency in English or other languages is considered an asset, enhancing the ability to reach a broader audience and engage with diverse stakeholders.
