Job Overview:
The Senior Project Associate will play a crucial role in supporting Shelter and Infrastructure activities within IOM Slovakia. This position involves working closely with the Chief of Mission and the Senior Programme Associate to ensure effective delivery and distribution of non-food items (NFIs) to populations affected by crises. The Senior Project Associate will coordinate site assessments, monitor the needs of affected communities, and ensure that distributions are conducted in accordance with established protocols. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying gaps in services and implementing best practices across the program. The Senior Project Associate will also be responsible for maintaining communication with field teams, preparing reports on housing trends, and facilitating access to services for vulnerable individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Project Associate include coordinating and monitoring site assessments for NFIs, working with field teams to conduct assessments and distributions, and leading site assessments to gather information on available services. The role also involves preparing reports on housing trends, updating the Zite monitoring tool, and developing plans for refurbishment support based on assessed needs. The Senior Project Associate will participate in team meetings, support staff in their work, and ensure that all processes align with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and cluster recommendations. Additionally, the role requires organizing monitoring activities, conducting focus group discussions, and performing other tasks as assigned by the management.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma with at least six years of relevant working experience, preferably in similar roles. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Construction, Architecture, International Relations, or related fields with four years of relevant experience is acceptable. Required qualifications also include training in emergency response, disaster relief management, or related topics, as well as a valid driving license (Category B).
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Construction, Architecture, or International Relations. Candidates with additional training in emergency response or disaster management will be preferred, as these qualifications are essential for effectively addressing the challenges faced in emergency settings.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in the migration field and emergency response shelter actions. Familiarity with IOM's administrative and financial management processes, budget monitoring, and internal control procedures is also necessary. Experience working in emergency settings is crucial, as the role requires the ability to respond effectively to urgent needs and challenges.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Slovak is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of additional languages such as Ukrainian and/or Russian is considered an advantage, as it may enhance communication with affected populations. Language skills may be assessed during the recruitment process to ensure candidates meet the necessary requirements.
