Job Overview:
The Country Lead – Tonga position is a full-time, permanent role that requires a dynamic individual to lead and oversee Save the Children Australia's programs in Tonga. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and ensuring that the organization's initiatives align with both regional priorities and national development goals. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, managing program quality, and ensuring effective implementation of development projects. The Country Lead will also play a crucial role in building a network of contacts within the development and humanitarian sectors to enhance SCA's reputation in Tonga. The position demands a strong commitment to driving transformative change and making a lasting impact in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Lead will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Leading the strategic direction of SCA’s work in Tonga, ensuring alignment with Pacific regional priorities and national development goals.
  • Facilitating strategic business development forums (SBDF) to identify future opportunities in Tonga.
  • Building and maintaining a network of contacts in the development and humanitarian sector to advance SCA’s brand and reputation.
  • Overseeing the implementation of development projects in accordance with donor and SCA requirements, providing support and advice to the Program Management Units.
  • Managing financial oversight and audit requirements for projects.
  • Supporting the capacity development of local partners and promoting their leadership in program delivery.
  • Ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration with various partners and counterparts.
  • Monitoring and evaluating program outcomes to ensure accountability and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Country Lead position must possess a minimum of 15 years' experience in directing programs and monitoring outcomes within a socially responsible organization or business. A tertiary qualification in a relevant or related discipline is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience in working alongside national staff in a culturally sensitive manner to build capacity. Strong leadership and management skills in complex international settings are required, along with significant experience in strategic planning, design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, and proposal development. Additionally, candidates should have experience overseeing operational requirements, financial management, risk management, procurement, and human resources. The educational background required for the Country Lead position includes a tertiary qualification in a relevant or related discipline. This could encompass fields such as international development, public administration, social sciences, or any other area that provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of development work in Tonga and the Pacific region.

Experience:
The position requires extensive experience, specifically a minimum of 15 years in senior management or Country Lead-level roles within the international development sector. Languages:
