Job Overview: The Team Leader for the Alternative Learning Program will play a crucial role in establishing a new holistic alternative learning program aimed at reconnecting young people aged 10-16 involved in the youth justice system with education, training, or employment pathways. This full-time, permanent position involves leading a passionate team of specialist teachers, teacher aides, youth support, and family support staff. The leader will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with service agreements, and advocating for young people and their families through local networks and engagement with government agencies. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Team Leader include:
Leading and developing a passionate team, providing professional supervision and support.
Collaborating with Ohana for Youth to ensure a cohesive and holistic service delivery.
Building connections with local service providers, including schools, education providers, and youth justice services.
Advocating for young people and their families through local networks and engagement with government agencies.
Overseeing daily operations within the Specialised Alternative Learning program, ensuring compliance with practice, child safeguarding standards, and service agreements.
Compiling relevant data to meet reporting requirements and ensure accountability.
Managing competing priorities and de-escalating complex scenarios as they arise.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess proven leadership skills and experience, with the ability to build a cohesive and high-performing team. A Bachelor qualification in Human Services or Education, or significant equivalent experience is required.
