Job Overview:
The position of Técnico(a) de Campo (Auxiliar de Programas) is crucial for supporting the implementation of WFP's programs and policies in the field. The role involves executing specialized and standardized activities that require a certain level of interpretation of guidelines and practices. The incumbent will work with minimal supervision, conducting basic analyses and compiling reports to ensure the smooth execution of programs and projects. Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Técnico(a) de Campo include:
  • Conducting specialized and standardized activities within the technical area, ensuring alignment with broader program policies and guidelines.
  • Supporting project management and general office support while adhering to established goals and WFP policies.
  • Collecting data and assisting in the analysis and reporting of information related to food assistance needs, resource utilization, program progress, and achievements to support operational decision-making.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely data records within the technical area, applying institutional standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborating and exchanging information with internal counterparts to support effective implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Assisting in communication activities with partners, agencies, NGOs, and public institutions at the local level.
  • Serving as a point of contact for general inquiries regarding operations and seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Following standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP's readiness to respond quickly and deliver necessary resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education is required; a post-secondary education certificate in a relevant functional area is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of national market functionality to provide efficient services in WFP's intervention areas.
  • Experience in facilitating communication with technical teams and contributing to program implementation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with emergency programming and the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of high-quality emergency programs.
  • Understanding of basic principles of collaboration with government stakeholders at national or local levels is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed their secondary education. A post-secondary education certificate in a relevant functional area will be considered an asset. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively supporting WFP's programs.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within a humanitarian or development context. Experience in project management, data analysis, and communication with various stakeholders is highly desirable. Familiarity with WFP's operational procedures and guidelines will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in a local Mayan language is desirable, as it will enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Fixed-Term contract at level 5, with a duration of twelve (12) months, subject to renewal based on performance evaluation. The role is based in the Field Office in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, and reports to the Head of Programs.
