Job Overview:
The ICLA Coordinator position is a critical role within the NRC, focusing on the implementation and management of the Information, Counseling, and Legal Assistance (ICLA) program. The coordinator will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of activities related to legal assistance for refugees and vulnerable populations. This position requires strong leadership skills, as the coordinator will manage a team of assistants and volunteers, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary training and resources to effectively support beneficiaries. Duties and Responsibilities:
The ICLA Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading the organization and implementation of NRC's ICLA activities in the designated provinces; ensuring the technical quality of programmatic activities; training and providing technical support to staff; generating and analyzing information on the needs of individuals requiring international protection; leading missions to identify populations of interest, particularly in border and rural areas; monitoring financial expenditures related to programmatic activities; compiling and submitting timely reports on project activities; collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders; and supporting the development of strategic and operational plans for NRC's work in Ecuador. The coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with NRC policies and guidelines, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Law, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field. They should have at least two years of experience in similar roles within humanitarian contexts, particularly in legal assistance and human rights advocacy. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to lead teams, and experience in complex and volatile environments are essential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of international and national regulations related to human rights and refugee protection, as well as familiarity with the legal framework in Ecuador. Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, while intermediate English skills are desirable. Candidates should also have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in data management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
Educational Background:
A university degree in Law, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has a solid understanding of the legal frameworks and social issues relevant to the work of NRC in providing assistance to refugees and vulnerable populations.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in humanitarian assistance, particularly in the areas of legal support and human rights advocacy. Candidates should have experience working in complex and volatile contexts, demonstrating the ability to adapt to changing situations and effectively manage teams. Previous experience in leading projects related to information, counseling, and legal assistance is highly valued.
Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders in Ecuador. Intermediate proficiency in English is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and enhance the candidate's ability to engage in broader humanitarian discussions.

This position is full-time and requires frequent travel (up to 65% of the time) to areas where endemic diseases may be present.
