Job Overview: The E-T Consultant (ETC) will serve as the technical lead on sustainability priorities in smallholder supply chains, working across various regions to shape knowledge and implement projects. This role is crucial in managing and contributing to ongoing projects while developing new initiatives based on client needs and alignment with the World Bank Knowledge Bank's strategic priorities. The ETC will support and advise colleagues on relevant sustainability topics, develop new knowledge products, and ensure that insights from ongoing operations are translated into valuable knowledge products and tools for staff and clients. The position requires a proactive approach to project implementation and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve sustainability goals in smallholder supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ETC will be responsible for managing ongoing Advisory projects with sustainability priorities, including maintaining relationships with clients and colleagues, internal reporting, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Specific duties include managing projects such as Scaling Sustainable Rice Cultivation, Sustainable Cooling Initiative, and Smallholder Supply Chains. The ETC will also support client relationships with organizations like Natural Offset Farming and Associated British Foods, manage vendor engagement critical to project implementation, prepare biannual reports and project completion reports, and represent IFC externally as needed. Additionally, the ETC will lead the design of new sustainability-related Advisory projects, collaborate with regional teams, and define the sustainability agenda in smallholder supply chains. The role also involves creating knowledge products, leading learning events, and contributing to corporate initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in sustainability, project management, and advisory roles, with demonstrated experience in managing complex projects in smallholder supply chains. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively across teams, and a deep understanding of sustainability issues in agriculture. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies is essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders. A strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills are also required to navigate the challenges faced in smallholder supply chains.
Educational Background: A master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, agriculture, international development, or business administration is required. Candidates with additional certifications in project management or sustainability will be preferred. A strong academic background that demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and development issues is essential for this role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in project management, advisory roles, or sustainability initiatives, particularly in the context of smallholder supply chains. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in a similar capacity will be highly regarded. Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion, including stakeholder engagement and reporting, is crucial for this position.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable given the location of the position. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the regions of operation will be considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with diverse stakeholders and clients.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role based in Mexico City, with potential for remote work arrangements. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
