Job Overview:
The Audiovisual Internship at the United Nations Information Centre in Mexico City is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in communications within an international organization. The internship is set to last for six months, requiring full-time commitment of 35 hours per week, with four days in-person and one day of remote work each week. Interns will work under the direct supervision of the UNIC’s Director and/or the National Information Officer (NIO), contributing to various communications activities. The role involves assisting with research, drafting, and production of communications products, particularly in audiovisual formats. Interns will also engage in outreach efforts to diverse audiences using both traditional and digital communication methods, supporting the strategic communication initiatives of the United Nations in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This internship provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with UN agencies and civil society organizations, while also developing skills in multimedia storytelling and digital content creation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of duties including: supporting communications activities of UNIC Mexico, assisting with research and drafting of communications products, particularly audiovisual materials; engaging in outreach efforts to various publics through traditional and digital means; supporting strategic communication initiatives of the UN in Mexico and the region; coordinating communication activities among UN System agencies in Mexico; producing multimedia stories and digital assets for web and social media; drafting and editing content in both Spanish and English; utilizing programming skills for AR or VR product development; employing media listening tools and analytics; liaising with civil society, academia, and NGOs; organizing events; collaborating with public and private sectors on UN-related issues; promoting UN education and youth participation; and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
No prior working experience is required to apply for this internship. However, applicants should possess training, education, or skills that would benefit the United Nations during their internship. To qualify for the United Nations Internship Programme, candidates must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a relevant educational background that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree. The educational qualifications should ideally relate to communications, media studies, international relations, or a similar field that would enhance the intern's contributions to the UNIC.

Experience:
While no specific work experience is required, candidates should demonstrate relevant training or coursework that would prepare them for the internship. The focus is on the applicant's educational background and skills rather than prior professional experience, making this position suitable for recent graduates or students.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication within the UNIC and with local stakeholders. Fluency in English is desirable, as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not required.
