Job Overview:
The Senior Communications Associate will play a pivotal role in driving the planning, development, and implementation of WFP Lebanon's digital communications and content production. This position is crucial for enhancing the organization's visibility and donor recognition while engaging key audiences across various media platforms. The incumbent will manage WFP Lebanon's social media presence, develop compelling stories, and collaborate with program units and field offices to propose and implement digital campaigns that expand WFP's reach and showcase program results. The role involves producing high-quality strategic communications materials, including digital content, human-interest stories, media messaging, and press materials, ensuring that donor visibility requirements are met. Additionally, the Senior Communications Associate will support media relations by coordinating interviews and communication opportunities, contributing to the development of strategic messaging aligned with corporate communications standards, and effectively communicating WFP's operational impact and advocacy priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and deliver specialized communications processes and activities to support the timely preparation and execution of communications campaigns for target audiences.
  • Liaise with the media and other key constituents, providing and facilitating a regular flow of information and messages on WFP activities, policies, and operations to key audiences.
  • Coordinate and make recommendations on event planning, ensuring appropriate services, equipment, plans, and suitable materials are made available.
  • Provide substantive, specialized support, coordination, and recommendations that ensure the efficient production of video/film, photographic, and radio projects.
  • Monitor traditional and social media, reporting relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies.
  • Prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.
  • Research, recommend, and assist with the development of content used on traditional and social media platforms to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities.
  • Promote and provide advice on communications guidelines to ensure that core procedures and policies are followed.
  • Ensure that relevant information is collected and maintained in appropriate files and databases for accurate record-keeping. 1
  • Manage a broad range of day-to-day questions and information requests from internal and external stakeholders, using specialized knowledge to respond in a timely and appropriate manner. 1
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to keep abreast of relevant information and deliver aligned, coherent communications processes and activities. 1
  • Contribute to the development of communications methods and processes to improve their effectiveness and increase awareness of WFP’s work to the media and stakeholders. 1
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of secondary school education is required, along with a post-secondary certificate in Communication Arts, Media Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. The candidate must possess strong writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to produce engaging communication materials in both English and Arabic. Experience managing media relations, including engaging with journalists and drafting media messaging, is essential. The candidate should also have experience managing social media platforms, including content planning and audience engagement, as well as gathering field content for communication purposes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, and knowledge of photography, videography, and multimedia storytelling techniques is desired.

Educational Background:
The position requires completion of secondary school education and a post-secondary certificate in Communication Arts, Media Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or any related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and media relations.

Experience:
At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, multimedia or digital production, or related fields is required. The candidate should have a strong understanding of social media analytics and performance monitoring, with the ability to prepare engagement reports and use audience insights to inform communication strategies. Experience in developing bilingual communication products in Arabic and English is also preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory. Knowledge of the French language is considered an added advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with a broader audience and engage with diverse stakeholders.
