Job Overview:
The Medical Officer will play a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of quality healthcare services at RI-supported health facilities and those of RI’s partners. Reporting to the Health & Nutrition technical specialist, the Medical Officer will provide technical support to medical staff, ensuring adherence to established health service standards. This position requires a blend of independent decision-making and teamwork to effectively tackle complex healthcare challenges. The Medical Officer will be responsible for planning and implementing health activities, monitoring healthcare providers, and ensuring that health services meet established quality standards. The role also involves assessing community health needs, responding to health emergencies, and integrating community health programs into primary healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Officer's duties include leading the implementation of health activities in supported health facilities, ensuring quality standards are met, and providing direct support for the day-to-day running of health services. Responsibilities also encompass monitoring and supervising healthcare providers, participating in health work plan design, identifying epidemic diseases, conducting clinical audits, and providing technical support for community health integration. Additionally, the Medical Officer will manage staff recruitment, assess training needs, conduct capacity-building initiatives, coordinate with medical commodity officers, and participate in medical meetings. The role requires regular documentation and reporting, including reviewing health facility reports and analyzing data for project reporting.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum first degree in Medicine from a recognized institution, along with at least 5 years of clinical practice experience in Syria, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of public health principles and medical protocols is essential, as is experience working with NGOs in humanitarian or developmental contexts. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required, along with strong computer literacy in applications such as Excel and Word. Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and ethical reliability.

Educational Background:
The position requires a minimum first degree in Medicine from a recognized university or institution. Post-graduate qualifications in clinical fields or public health are considered advantageous, enhancing the candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical practice within healthcare settings in Syria, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience in managing health programs in emergencies or low-resource settings is highly desirable, as is experience in organizing and conducting training programs for healthcare staff.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as essential for this role.
