Job Overview:
The Senior Finance Associate position at UNICEF is crucial for managing financial functions related to Private Sector Fund Raising in the India Country Office. The role emphasizes financial management, compliance, and operational efficiency. The associate will report to the Finance Specialist and will be responsible for monitoring daily banking transactions, ensuring compliance with established procedures, and managing revenue and receivables. The position requires a strong focus on analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, reporting, and collaboration with various teams to ensure the effective application of UNICEF's policies and procedures. The role also involves preparing financial reports, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and manage daily banking transactions for donations, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Verify reports from banks and processing agencies for direct credits and cash deposits.
  • Prepare monthly analyses of Bank GL and manual clearing entries for bank reconciliation statements.
  • Follow up on reconciling items in the BRS for timely clearance.
  • Manage deposits of refunds and recoveries for the India Country Office and field offices.
  • Generate and analyze VISION and Insight reports on overdue receivables and follow up with relevant sections.
  • Review grant creation/amendment requests for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support country offices in recording receipts for Common Services.
  • Share updates on banking regulations and accounting policies with the PSFR Team. 1
  • Prepare monthly and yearly financial closing reports. 1
  • Coordinate with DFAM unit for details on agreements for new grants. 1
  • Address queries related to Grants Management. 1
  • Prepare Quarterly Financial Reports and Revenue Expenditure Reports. 1
  • Conduct detailed monthly reconciliations between Salesforce and VISION. 1
  • Act as the focal point for Cash Management System with the bank. 1
  • Liaise with local banks regarding outstanding deposits and charges. 1
  • Provide support to the supervisor and team with reports and schedules. 1
  • Serve as a backup for Finance Officer/Senior Finance Associate/Assistant as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may replace 3 years of related work experience.
  • A Master’s degree may replace an additional 2 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in Finance and Accounting is required.
  • Skills in project management, collaboration, problem-solving, digital dexterity, and stakeholder engagement are essential.
  • Innovative adaptability is also a key requirement.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field being advantageous. Professional or university-level courses in Accounting and Finance/Business Administration are considered assets. A Master’s degree can further enhance qualifications by substituting for years of experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in Finance and Accounting. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may have 3 years of experience waived, while those with a Master’s degree may have an additional 2 years waived. Experience in financial transactions related to fundraising activities is considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile.
