This role includes managing the official website and social media accounts, covering events, monitoring media, and engaging experts. The consultant will ensure timely coverage of events and initiatives in family and gender policy, raising public awareness of the National Commission's work. The position requires the development and implementation of a communications plan, including partnerships with media and influencers to enhance visibility and public engagement. The consultant will also prepare press releases, manage social media content, and monitor media coverage, providing monthly reports on key events and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Consultant will be responsible for several key tasks: 1) Develop and implement a communications plan for 2026, engaging with bloggers, media outlets, and opinion leaders. 2) Prepare and publish short video clips featuring National Commission members discussing gender and family policy issues (at least 2 videos per month). 3) Prepare and disseminate press releases and media briefings on key events. 4) Develop a social media strategy, creating at least three posts per week and engaging with followers. 5) Provide technical support and content management for the National Commission's website and social media pages. 6) Monitor media and social media, providing monthly reports on public perception and engagement. 7) Establish regular engagement with national media outlets, organizing expert participation in television and radio programs. 8) Collaborate closely with the UN Women communications team to strengthen advocacy efforts for gender equality and women's empowerment.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, social sciences, political science, or a related field. Candidates must have at least 10 years of professional experience in journalism, media, public relations, or strategic communications. Demonstrated experience in website administration and managing social media accounts for institutional or national partners is essential. Experience in engaging experts and coordinating their participation in media programs is also required. Familiarity with government institutions, international organizations, or the expert community is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as journalism, communications, public relations, social sciences, or political science. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and media relations in the context of gender equality and women's empowerment.
Experience: The National Consultant must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in fields related to journalism, media, public relations, or strategic communications. This extensive experience is necessary to effectively manage communications strategies, engage with media, and provide expert insights into gender and family policy issues.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken skills in Kazakh and Russian are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and enhance the consultant's ability to engage with a broader audience.
Additional Notes: The National Consultant will work from home based in Astana, with no travel expected. The contract will be evaluated based on criteria such as timeliness, responsibility, initiative, sociability, accuracy, and quality of work. Monthly payments will be made after the presentation and approval of results by the UN Women Project Manager or Programme Specialist. The final report must be submitted in Russian.
