Job Overview: The Media Assistant position is integral to the Office of the Head of Mission (OHoM) within the OSCE Programme Office in Astana. This role is designed to enhance communication and visibility regarding the office's projects and activities. The Media Assistant will serve as the primary contact for public relations and communication efforts, ensuring that the results and activities of the Programme Office are effectively communicated to a broader audience. This includes managing social media content, creating visibility materials, and coordinating with various stakeholders to promote the office's initiatives. The Media Assistant will work closely with the Deputy Head of Programme Office and will be responsible for maintaining relationships with media outlets and public information bodies, thereby playing a crucial role in the office's outreach and engagement strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Media Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Supporting the visibility efforts of the Office of the Head of Mission, particularly through social media and the OSCE website, ensuring that content is available in English, Kazakh, and Russian.
Leading the management of social media and website content, which involves planning, creating, posting, and sharing diverse content formats such as text, images, and videos.
Distributing information to maintain constant visibility of project activities across various media platforms.
Coordinating with public relations departments of relevant national authorities to align visibility activities.
Engaging with national and international media outlets to facilitate interviews and coverage of OSCE initiatives.
Collaborating with the OSCE Secretariat’s COMMs unit to uphold corporate visibility standards and implement visibility guidelines.
Designing and updating visibility materials, including factsheets, promotional materials, and videos.
Assisting in organizing public events to ensure effective media presence and publicity, which may involve travel.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess completed secondary education, with studies in journalism, communications, public relations, or related fields being highly desirable. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in media, public relations, or communications is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent knowledge of Kazakhstan's media landscape, including familiarity with various social media platforms. Additionally, candidates must exhibit gender awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft applications is also necessary.
Educational Background: The position requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Further education in fields related to media, communications, or public relations is preferred and will be considered an asset in the selection process.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in media, public relations, communications, or a related field. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of media operations and public communication strategies, particularly within the context of Kazakhstan.
Languages: Proficiency in English, Kazakh, and Russian is mandatory for this position. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in all three languages, as the role involves engaging with diverse stakeholders and producing content in these languages. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time contracted role at the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, classified at the General Services level (G5). The monthly remuneration for this position is EUR 1,217, with additional benefits including participation in Cigna medical insurance and a Provident Fund. The contract is subject to a two-year obligation, and candidates must be aware that the OSCE does not reimburse expenses related to the application process.
