Job Overview:
The Climate and Inclusive Growth Division of the Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) at the IMF is seeking to fill the position of Economist/Sr. Economist. This role is pivotal in supporting the division's capacity development activities, which focus on macro-structural topics such as inclusive growth, regional economic integration, and the macroeconomics of climate change. The selected candidate will be involved in delivering training and technical assistance missions, which may take place both at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., and across various Regional Capacity Development Centers. The position requires the development and updating of training materials, including lectures and case studies, and collaboration with ICD staff to enhance macroeconomic modeling practices. The successful candidate will also support the development and application of macroeconomic models, including training officials in the use of analytical toolkits.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Economist/Sr. Economist include participating in the delivery of training sessions in various formats (in-person, virtual, and online), engaging in technical assistance missions to member countries, and developing new training materials. The candidate will collaborate with ICD staff to advance macroeconomic modeling practices and conduct empirical work to deepen macro-structural analysis. Additionally, the role involves supporting the development and calibration of macroeconomic models, such as DSGE, and training officials in the use and maintenance of these analytical tools. The candidate will also be expected to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong time and project management skills.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong educational background in economics, typically acquired through considerable graduate work or equivalent experience. A background in macro-structural areas relevant to the division's focus is highly encouraged. Significant practical experience of at least 2-3 years in developing and operating macroeconomic frameworks or models is required. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of econometric techniques and related software, including Python, Stata, MATLAB (particularly DYNARE and IRIS toolboxes), and EViews. Excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible attitude, and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels are essential.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced degree in economics or a related field, supplemented by relevant work experience. Candidates should have completed considerable graduate work in economics, which provides a strong foundation for the analytical and technical aspects of the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of significant practical experience in developing and operating macroeconomic frameworks and/or macroeconomic models. This experience should include hands-on work with econometric techniques and the application of various software tools relevant to macroeconomic analysis.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is essential for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of another language, such as Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish, would be considered an asset and is encouraged to enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
