Job Overview:
The Senior Award Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing a portfolio of awards and supporting strategic initiatives within Save the Children. Reporting to the Lead of Business Operations, this position is integral to maintaining organizational accountability and program integrity by ensuring compliance with donor requirements across Save the Children International (SCI), its members, and partners. The Senior Award Manager will manage compliance-related processes, serve as the primary contact for donor compliance matters, and lead a small team to support Country Offices and partners in delivering high-quality programs that align with the organization's values of transparency, integrity, and collaboration. This role requires a proactive approach to managing grants throughout their lifecycle, ensuring financial health, and fostering strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Award Manager will be responsible for managing a complex portfolio of grants throughout the award lifecycle, which includes project kick-off, monitoring, amendments, and closeout processes in collaboration with Country Offices and partners. The role involves ensuring compliance with internal processes and donor requirements, maintaining accurate records and audit trails. Additionally, the Senior Award Manager will lead the administration and continuous improvement of the Award Management System (AMS), ensuring data quality and providing staff support. Responsibilities also include overseeing project budgets, preparing forecasts, conducting variance analysis, and monitoring financial performance across awards. The Senior Award Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for donor compliance, particularly with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), providing guidance, training, and resources. The role requires leading the review and submission of high-quality narrative and financial donor reports, building and maintaining strong relationships with donors, and providing support across various organizational priorities, including strategic planning and operationalization. People management is also a key responsibility, involving setting clear performance expectations, coaching, and ensuring alignment with organizational values and policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5-7 years of management experience in International Development, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO/INGO), or other not-for-profit sectors is required, with a preference for people management experience in a unionized environment. Proven experience in project management, business operations, and grant management in International Programs, particularly in developing countries and fragile contexts, is essential. Familiarity with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) funded projects, knowledge of GAC policies and procedures, and donor compliance are required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in project financial management and possess strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills to build relationships across diverse cultural and organizational settings.

Educational Background:
The position requires a post-secondary education in a relevant field, which may include areas such as international development, business administration, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience in relevant roles may also be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5-7 years of management experience, particularly in the context of International Development or within NGOs. Experience in project management, grant management, and business operations is crucial, especially in supporting projects in developing countries and fragile contexts. Familiarity with donor compliance, particularly with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), is highly valued.

Languages:
While English is mandatory, proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic is considered an asset. Strong communication skills are essential for building relationships with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The salary range for this position is between $88,628.10 to $103,942.56 CAD, depending on skills and experience. Employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package available three months after the employment start date, including coordinated benefits for partners, a hybrid workplace with remote work opportunities, and flexible work hours.
