Job Overview:
The Receptionist (LSC-1) plays a crucial role in supporting the front desk operations of UNFPA's office in Kabul. This position is essential for maintaining a safe, orderly, and professional office environment. The incumbent will manage visitor access, handle communications, and assist with basic security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and facility-related tasks. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility and vigilance to ensure effective reception services while coordinating with security personnel to uphold the safety of UNFPA personnel, premises, and assets. The Receptionist will report to the Security Analyst under the guidance of the Security Specialist, contributing to the overall mission of UNFPA to deliver impactful results in reproductive health and rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Receptionist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: receiving and screening visitors entering the UNFPA Afghanistan office; preventing unauthorized vehicles from parking in front of the office; ensuring all doors and windows are secured after working hours and that electrical appliances are turned off; reporting suspicious packages or items to the Security Specialist and Security Analyst; directing international and national visitors to the reception for registration and accurately recording their details; responding promptly to phone calls directed to reception and providing accurate information; maintaining security lights during the night and reporting any asset damage; patrolling the office premises during the night to ensure safety; operating the office generator according to a set timetable; monitoring the CCTV system and reporting any malfunctions; acting as a fire warden during emergencies; assisting personnel and visitors in safe evacuation during fire alarms, earthquakes, or other emergencies; and conducting other duties as required.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required for this position. Candidates with a high school diploma must have at least three years of relevant work experience, while those with a Bachelor’s degree are required to have up to one year of relevant experience in a security receptionist role.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant work experience for candidates with a high school diploma or up to one year for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in a security receptionist role is essential, along with computer skills and familiarity with video surveillance equipment, radio, and other telecommunication devices.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English, both written and oral, is mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in the local languages, Dari and/or Pashto, is required to effectively communicate with visitors and staff.
