Job Posting Organization:ACAPS is an independent analysis provider established to assist humanitarian workers, influencers, fundraisers, and donors in making informed decisions and responding effectively to disasters. The organization aims to reshape the humanitarian narrative by providing timely and independent needs analysis, data, training, and methodological tools. ACAPS operates globally, conducting analysis on crises in various countries including Afghanistan, Colombia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen, with a team that spans over 150 countries and 100 active crises. The organization is currently experiencing growth and expanding its donor portfolio, which includes key institutional donors such as BHA, FCDO, SDC, GFFO, GAC, and NMFA.
Job Overview:
The Project Manager will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the ACAPS Sudan Analysis Hub. This position involves coordinating analytical and operational processes, ensuring effective functioning of the hub, and fostering good team collaboration. The Project Manager will work closely with the Team Leader or Regional Manager and Senior Analysts to manage the hub effectively. Additionally, the Project Manager may represent the hub in engagements with key stakeholders, contributing to the overall mission of ACAPS to provide independent analysis that supports humanitarian responses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will have a variety of responsibilities including:
- Line management of support and Capacity Building staff, specifically overseeing one Community Liaison.
- Internal Coordination of the Sudan Analysis Hub, ensuring the implementation of the workplan, team priorities, project deliverables, and collaborative processes.
- Grant management, which includes communication with donors, coordinating reporting, and drafting donor reports and updates on project progress.
- Capacity building activities, which involve content Design, registration, participation, and evaluation.
- Ensuring that Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes are conducted and that changes are implemented based on findings.
- Planning and coordinating workshops, travel, online events, and other activities related to the Sudan hub as necessary.
- Conducting performance management and regular appraisals for all staff members.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Humanitarian Action, management, social sciences, International Relations, research, or international development. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience will be accepted. Furthermore, candidates should have at least 5 years of field or headquarters experience in international organizations, with a minimum of 2 years in a management role. Experience in the humanitarian sector is preferred, along with demonstrated experience in leading fast-paced international projects and managing multi-disciplinary, multinational teams in complex environments. Knowledge of project management tools and approaches is essential, as well as experience working with analytical or civil society projects in Sudan or Kenya.
Educational Background:
A Master’s degree is preferred, but a Bachelor’s degree with additional experience is acceptable. The educational background should ideally be in fields related to humanitarian action, management, social sciences, international relations, research, or international development.
Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a management capacity. Candidates should have experience in international organizations, particularly in the humanitarian sector, and should demonstrate a proven ability to lead projects and teams effectively in complex environments.
Languages:
Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory. Proficiency in another language is considered a plus, enhancing communication capabilities within diverse teams.
Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 12 months. It is a national position based in Nairobi, Kenya, with no planned travel. The starting date is as soon as possible, and the organization emphasizes its commitment to diversity and equal opportunities in its hiring practices.
