Job Overview:
The Strategic Information Lead (SI Lead) position is crucial for an anticipated CDC-funded global childhood immunization project aimed at reaching zero- and under-immunized children in Northern Nigeria, particularly in fragile and conflict settings. The role involves supporting immunization uptake for various diseases, strengthening surveillance systems, establishing laboratory networks, and enhancing immunization delivery systems. The SI Lead will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance, and providing technical guidance to improve access to quality data. This position requires collaboration with project and country program MEAL Coordinators to evaluate program effectiveness and oversee technical aspects of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The SI Lead will contribute to the development and implementation of agency-wide strategies and best practices in immunization, ensuring a cross-sectoral approach that integrates gender and protection mainstreaming. Responsibilities include providing technical solutions for strategic planning, leading the development of technical designs for proposals, advising project teams on donor strategies, and contributing to capacity strengthening initiatives. The SI Lead will also engage in knowledge management by collecting and analyzing program data, evaluating strategic projects, and sharing lessons learned. Establishing and maintaining relationships with donors and peer organizations is essential, as is participation in forums to promote CRS' work in immunization.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and offer innovative solutions. Strong relations management abilities are essential, as well as good presentation and facilitation skills. The ideal candidate should be proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented. Preferred qualifications include experience in Business Development, project Design, proposal development, and mentoring staff in immunization programming. Proficiency in MS Office, GIS applications, and information Management Systems is also required.
Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or its equivalent in Sciences, Public Health, Global Health Research, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of immunization programs and to effectively contribute to the strategic initiatives of CRS.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant international working experience in an advisory or management role, ideally with an international NGO. Candidates should have at least three years of experience working on programming interventions in immunization, demonstrating progressive responsibilities in their previous roles.
Languages:
A high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages such as Hausa is preferred, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local communities.
