Job Overview:
The Programme Management Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of the Division on Technology and Logistics. This position involves collaborating with other programme management staff to implement, monitor, and evaluate various programmes and operations related to technology and logistics. The officer is expected to ensure that the objectives set by the Division's Director are met, which includes providing substantive inputs to the Director's overall programme of work, analyzing economic developments, and ensuring that the technical assistance needs of Member States are addressed. The role also entails conducting research, facilitating workshops, and leading outreach activities, all aimed at enhancing the Division's impact on technology and logistics in trade and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including assisting the Director in formulating and implementing mandated programmes, analyzing programme/project development, and ensuring smooth Coordination with relevant parties. The officer will monitor economic developments in technology and logistics, perform consulting assignments, lead policy development initiatives, generate survey initiatives, and prepare written outputs such as reports and background papers. Additionally, the officer will provide substantive backstopping to meetings and conferences, coordinate outreach activities, and contribute to the formulation of the Division's medium-term plan and budget. The role also involves managing resource mobilization efforts and building partnerships to support the Division's work.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of theories and concepts related to technology, logistics, and international trade and development. The ability to analyze issues, conduct independent research, and effectively communicate findings is essential. The officer should also demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and planning skills, with a focus on achieving organizational goals and managing conflicting priorities. Experience in Fundraising and developing partnerships is highly desirable, as is the ability to incorporate gender perspectives into all areas of work.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business Administration, management, economics, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. At least three years of experience specifically in trade and development programme management is desirable. Experience in a front office setting, as well as in fundraising and resource mobilization, is also preferred. Familiarity with technical cooperation on issues related to technology and logistics is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. Fluency in French is desirable, and knowledge of another UN official language is considered an asset.
