With a presence in approximately twenty countries, SI employs around 3,000 people who work with professionalism and commitment while respecting local cultures.
Job Overview:
The intern will be involved in the collection and Analysis of data for the Observatory on access to water in Mayotte. This includes supporting the collection of qualitative data (testimonies) and quantitative data (information from SI teams and partners) to highlight the realities faced by individuals with insufficient or nonexistent access to water and sanitation. The intern will also assist in analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data regarding access to water and sanitation in Mayotte, as well as reviewing secondary data sources such as publications and reports. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for ensuring ongoing monitoring and establishing a calendar of advocacy opportunities to promote effective access to water and sanitation in Mayotte. This role will also involve providing contextual analysis and media monitoring related to local conditions and the application of water and sanitation rights in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data related to access to water and sanitation in Mayotte.
- Conduct secondary Data Analysis through reviewing publications and reports.
- Monitor and create a calendar of advocacy opportunities for promoting access to water and sanitation.
- Provide contextual analysis and media monitoring on local conditions and the application of water and sanitation rights.
- Draft advocacy documents, letters of inquiry, and internal and external publications.
- Mobilize a network of partner organizations to facilitate the collection of water and sanitation information in Mayotte.
- Participate in the development of an advocacy strategy with local partner organizations.
- Engage in the mobilization of national and International Human Rights protection mechanisms.
- Attend inter-associative meetings with SI partners. 1
- Support the organization of training sessions for local SI partners. 1
- Disseminate knowledge of applicable water and sanitation rights among partners and institutions. 1
- Participate in weekly and monthly meetings of the office and various departments. 1
- Provide support to all areas as requested.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of a BAC +4 level of education, with a background in political science, social sciences, public policy, or law. A strong interest and knowledge of issues related to water insecurity and overseas territories are essential. Candidates should possess strong writing, analytical, and drafting skills, as well as a desire to work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required. Previous experience in Data Collection and analysis is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate good synthesis abilities, interpersonal skills, proactivity, critical thinking, organizational skills, and a commitment to the principles and work of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
Educational Background:
A minimum educational background of BAC +4 is required, with a focus on political science, social sciences, public policy, or law. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of the issues related to water access and sanitation, particularly in the context of Mayotte and similar regions.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some level of experience, ideally in data collection and analysis. This experience will help the intern effectively contribute to the tasks outlined in the job description, particularly in analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data related to water and sanitation access.
Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory due to the local context and the need to communicate effectively with partners and stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.
Additional Notes:
The internship is based at the offices of the France Mission of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Marseille. The contract duration is for 6 months, and it is mandatory to have an internship agreement. The legal compensation for the internship is set at 4.70 euros per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked each month (approximately 154 hours per month, equating to 22 days of 7 hours each). Additionally, the organization covers 60% of meal vouchers and 50% of transportation costs.
