Established to provide timely and independent needs analysis, ACAPS operates globally, conducting analysis on crises in various countries including Afghanistan, Colombia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen. The organization is expanding its decentralized global team and has a donor portfolio that includes key institutional donors such as BHA, FCDO, SDC, GFFO, GAC, and NMFA. ACAPS is committed to providing independent, multi-sectoral analysis to help humanitarian stakeholders understand and address the needs of crisis-affected populations worldwide.

Job Overview:
The Information Analyst position at ACAPS is designed for individuals interested in a career in the humanitarian sector, particularly in qualitative and quantitative analysis, humanitarian planning, and promoting evidence-based decision-making. The role involves contributing to ACAPS' timely analysis of humanitarian crises, enabling crisis responders to make informed decisions. The analyst will focus on West and Central Africa, developing skills in analysis techniques such as secondary data review, joint analysis, and Data Management. The position requires a commitment to ACAPS values, including agency, candour, integrity, diversity, evolution, ambition, and collaboration, which guide the management of teams, content creation, and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Information Analyst include conducting research and analysis on global political, economic, social, and humanitarian developments in assigned countries, and writing analytical reports. Specific tasks include analyzing data from the INFORM Severity Index, conducting trend and risk analysis of evolving crises, and producing thematic ad hoc reports. The analyst will also contribute to the development of ACAPS methodologies, participate in internal evaluations, and provide Technical Support to data collectors. Collaboration is key, as the analyst may represent ACAPS to stakeholders, establish networks of informants, and lead joint analysis efforts. Additional duties may include supporting other analysts and participating in ad hoc projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a relevant Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in relevant sectors such as Humanitarian Action, social sciences, international relations, or public health. A minimum of 2 years of experience in research, analysis, Information Management, or advocacy within the humanitarian sector is required. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, strong written communication skills, and the ability to interpret ambiguous data are essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and knowledge of programming languages or Data Visualization tools like R, Python, Tableau, or PowerBI is preferred.

Educational Background:
The position requires a relevant Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in fields related to humanitarian action, social sciences, international relations, or public health. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian crises and the analytical skills needed for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, information management, or advocacy within the humanitarian sector or related fields. This experience is vital for effectively conducting the required analyses and contributing to ACAPS' mission.

Languages:
Fluent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory. Knowledge of French and any other language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and conduct analyses in various contexts.

Additional Notes:
The position is a national contract for 1 year with a high likelihood of renewal. Candidates must have the right to live and work in Senegal. The role is full-time, and applications must include a CV and cover letter in English to be considered.
