Job Overview:
The Human Resources Director (HR Director) position at the American Heart Association is a pivotal role that serves as a business partner and Advisor to leaders and employees across the Midwest region. This position is responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies that align with the Association's goals. The HR Director will lead various HR programs and regional learning and development activities, including leadership development and virtual training sessions. The role requires a proactive approach to employee engagement and organizational development, ensuring that HR practices support the overall mission of the AHA. The HR Director will also have the flexibility to work from home within the 13-state Midwest region, which includes states such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Director will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing support to employees throughout their lifecycle, conducting check-in calls, assisting with Development Plans, and processing departures. The HR Director will advise employees and managers on various HR programs and procedures, focusing on onboarding, employee relations, employee engagement, organizational development, and talent succession. Utilizing key HR metrics and data, the HR Director will provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in culture and leadership. The role also involves improving manager and employee performance by identifying barriers and implementing coaching strategies. Additionally, the HR Director will create and facilitate virtual leadership and individual contributor trainings, lead region-wide HR projects, and maintain strong partnerships with other HR functions such as Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the HR Director position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or SPHR/PHR certifications. Candidates should have at least three years of proven experience in human resources, with a minimum of two years providing employee and leadership coaching. Training facilitation experience is also preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with effective interpersonal skills to relate to and influence individuals at all levels. A solid understanding of employment laws and compliance is required, as well as exceptional skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, particularly under competing demands, is crucial, and candidates should be willing to travel up to 10% for local and overnight assignments.

Educational Background:
