Job Overview:
The Disability Inclusion Technical Advisor will provide technical assistance as part of the WISH2 programme, overseeing the Design and implementation of activities in Senegal. This role is crucial for managing the delivery of Sightsavers’ scope of work, ensuring equitable Access to Services for persons with disabilities. The advisor will also provide targeted regional technical assistance to partners across Chad, DRC, Mauritania, and Niger, promoting disability inclusion in sexual and Reproductive Health and rights (SRHR) services and systems. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including consortium partners and government officials, to enhance the capacity for disability inclusion in healthcare services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key duties include providing technical guidance to the WISH2 programme, overseeing the effective delivery of technical input on disability inclusion, coordinating Capacity Building and training for staff and relevant participants, building the capacity of consortium partners and stakeholders to work with Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), conducting accessibility audits in public sexual reproductive healthcare facilities, and managing programme activities. The advisor will also be responsible for synthesizing best practices and disseminating research and programme learning, ensuring that the programme meets its objectives and serves the needs of marginalized groups effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a postgraduate qualification and equivalent practical experience in relevant fields such as social work, disability studies, Public Health, or international development. Proven experience in disability inclusive programming in low-resource settings is essential, along with a strong understanding of accessibility, disability mainstreaming, gender equity, and intersectionality. Experience in Family Planning and SRHR programmes is desirable, as is the ability to develop approaches aimed at reaching marginalized groups of people with disabilities. Familiarity with key networks and organizations working on social inclusion and disability in Senegal is also required.

Educational Background:
A postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as social work, disability studies, public health, or international development is required. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in the field, demonstrating the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges in disability inclusion.

Experience:
Candidates should have proven experience in disability inclusive programming, particularly in low-resource settings. Experience working in family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights programmes is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in developing and adapting programme guidance tools and resource materials, as well as collating and disseminating best practice guidance, is essential. Familiarity with working alongside OPDs and local governmental and non-governmental structures is also crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and French is mandatory for this position, as the role involves communication with diverse stakeholders across different regions. Proficiency in these languages will facilitate effective collaboration and ensure that the advisor can engage with partners and beneficiaries in both languages, enhancing the inclusivity of the programme.

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with some flexibility around hours worked and the possibility of home working. It is a one-year fixed-term contract with the potential for renewal. The advisor will be expected to travel frequently to project locations and may need to travel regionally up to four times a year.
