Job Overview:
The Data Analytics Officer position is situated within the Department of Security and Risk Management (DSRM) at UNRWA. The officer will report directly to the Chief Policy and Planning Officer (P5). The role involves planning and directing the Analysis and assessment processes related to Security Threat information, which is crucial for effective security planning. The officer will be responsible for identifying analytical priorities based on the needs of DSRM, analyzing security incidents to determine root causes, and conducting trend analyses to assess security threats and risks. The officer will also develop statistical reports to support DSRM in briefing Senior Leadership and ensuring that analytical information is available for Crisis Management and preparedness. This position requires collaboration with various field offices and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive data analysis and reporting. The Data Analytics Officer will also serve as a Technical Support contact for the Security Incident Management System (SIMS) and will be involved in the management and maintenance of the UNRWA Safety and Security Incident Reporting System. Overall, the role is critical in enhancing the agency's ability to mitigate security threats and ensure the safety of its personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Analytics Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Planning and directing the analysis and assessment processes through the security threat information cycle for security planning purposes.
- Identifying analytical and assessment priorities based on the requirements of the DSRM.
- Analyzing security incidents to identify root causes and conducting trend analyses to assess security threats and risks.
- Developing statistical reports to support DSRM in briefing senior leadership and compiling statistical products for donor funding initiatives.
- Coordinating analysis and assessment requirements with UNRWA DSRM and individual Field Offices, ensuring that inputs from various stakeholders are incorporated into the analysis process.
- Preparing reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions based on relevant data.
- Creating documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the data analysis process and replicate it if necessary.
- Acting as a technical support point of contact for the Security Incident Management System (SIMS) and assisting in its management, maintenance, and control.
- Collaborating with GIS Coordinators and other relevant personnel on SIMS upgrades and data integration. 1
- Receiving and collating data from field offices to contribute to the Agency-wide threat assessment for staff safety. 1
- Producing formal monthly reviews of incidents and conducting day-to-day monitoring of media and information sources relevant to safety and security. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first university degree from an accredited educational institution in fields such as political/social science, international relations, information management, security studies, risk management, statistics, or business Administration, with a focus on statistics and analysis. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of five years of responsible and relevant work experience in statistics and analysis, demonstrating proficiency with applications such as Microsoft Power BI, Excel, or other relevant data analysis and visualization tools. Strong computer skills in professional settings are essential. Candidates must also have an excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English. A good understanding of security-related issues and familiarity with the UN system or NGOs is desirable.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first university degree from an accredited institution in relevant fields such as political/social science, international relations, information management, security studies, risk management, statistics, or business administration, particularly with a focus on statistics and analysis. Experience:
Candidates are required to have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in statistics and analysis. This experience should include demonstrated proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Microsoft Power BI and Excel. Languages:

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is a Fixed Term Appointment for three years, which includes a one-year probation period. There is a possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. The position is graded at Grade 15, with a monthly basic salary of JD 997.3
- Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. The incumbent is entitled to two days of sick leave for each completed month of service, 14 weeks of maternity leave, and two weeks of paternity leave. Candidates must currently reside in Jordan and be within commuting distance of the duty station, with authorization to work in Jordan at the time of application. The agency will not facilitate the issuance of work permits, and candidates without a valid work permit may have their appointment rescinded. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from under-represented genders to support the agency's commitment to gender parity.
