Job Overview: The ET Conversion ET Consultant will be an integral part of the Eastern and Southern Africa Distributional Impacts of Policies (DIP) Team, which is situated within the World Bank’s Prosperity Vertical. This role is crucial in supporting the World Bank Group’s vision of eradicating poverty and promoting shared prosperity on a livable planet. The consultant will engage in analytical and operational tasks related to the Poverty and Equity work program in Ethiopia. The position requires a strong emphasis on data analysis, policy evaluation, and collaboration with various operational teams to enhance monitoring and pro-poor distributional impacts. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the development of a robust evidence base on poverty and equity, focusing on data-driven solutions that can inform policy decisions and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Preparation and analysis of surveys, census, and administrative data to inform policy decisions.
Development of data dissemination products, such as maps and data portals, as well as inputs for reports that communicate findings effectively.
Writing analytical pieces on poverty, equity, and shared prosperity, including background papers and comprehensive reports.
Collaborating with operational teams to enhance monitoring efforts and ensure that policies have pro-poor distributional impacts.
Contributing to the overall micro-monitoring efforts and engaging in poverty-related policy and programmatic interactions with both internal and external clients. The consultant is expected to bring innovative ideas and strong quantitative skills to support these initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong quantitative skills and a background in research analysis, particularly in the areas of poverty and equity. The ideal candidate should demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively within teams and possess effective communication skills to convey complex data insights. A strong understanding of data analysis methodologies and experience in preparing analytical reports are essential. The consultant should also be imaginative and innovative, capable of contributing to the development of new approaches to address poverty-related challenges in Ethiopia.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in economics, statistics, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees such as a Master's or Ph.D. in these areas would be advantageous, as they provide a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding poverty and equity issues.
Experience: The position requires a significant level of experience in research analysis, particularly in quantitative analysis related to poverty and equity. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on similar projects, ideally within the context of international development or policy analysis.
