Job Overview:
The National Project Specialist (NPS) will play a pivotal role in leading the coordination and management of the Technical Assistance (TA) facility in Nepal, specifically focusing on the Tiger Landscapes Investment Facility (TLIF). This position requires the NPS to engage with various partners to develop project pipelines and coordinate with Financial Service Providers (FSPs) to support financing for nature-positive projects. The NPS will be responsible for ensuring that project results align with the approved project document, maintaining quality standards, and adhering to timelines and budgets. The role also involves impact monitoring and evaluation, preparing case studies, and engaging with government entities to enhance the project's scale and impact. The NPS will oversee day-to-day implementation, manage procurement and recruitment processes, and ensure effective delivery of project outputs while coordinating with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Project Specialist include leading project coordination and management, developing annual work plans and budgets, monitoring progress against plans, and proposing corrective measures as needed. The NPS will oversee procurement, contracting, and recruitment processes, ensuring the effective use of project resources in line with UNDP standards. Additionally, the NPS will coordinate the execution of project activities, monitor technical outputs for compliance, and prepare progress reports for submission to the Global Team and Country Office. The role also involves establishing a pipeline development program, providing technical assistance to FSPs, and engaging with local enterprises to enhance biodiversity impact. The NPS will maintain strong relationships with project partners, facilitate knowledge sharing, and ensure the integration of gender equality and social inclusion principles throughout project activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Finance, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor's degree) in the aforementioned fields with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is required for candidates with a master’s degree, or seven years for those with a bachelor’s degree, focusing on project implementation and management, planning, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. Good computer literacy, particularly in MS Office applications and web-based management information systems, is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Finance, Environmental Science, or Business Administration. Candidates with a first-level university degree (bachelor's degree) in these fields may be considered if they have additional relevant experience. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of project management and environmental issues.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in project implementation and management for candidates with a master’s degree, or seven years for those with a bachelor’s degree. Experience should focus on planning, monitoring, reporting, and coordination with stakeholders and teams. Candidates should also have experience in business development, biodiversity conservation, impact investment, and managing high-value donor-funded projects. Familiarity with UNDP's rules, policies, and procedures is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
