Job Overview:
The Activism and Outreach Specialist at WWF plays a crucial role in managing the Panda Ambassador Program, which serves as WWF's premier activism vehicle. This position is responsible for engaging a broader set of activists in conservation advocacy, working under the guidance of the Manager. The Specialist will focus on the day-to-day operations of the Panda Ambassador Program, which includes recruitment, onboarding, project coordination, and leadership development. The role involves developing resources and strategies that empower Ambassadors, ensuring their efforts align with WWF’s broader campaigns, and elevating their stories. Additionally, the Specialist will support key Activism and Outreach functions and initiatives beyond the Panda Ambassador Program, contributing to WWF's overall mission of conservation and advocacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Activism and Outreach Specialist include:
  • Managing the Panda Ambassador Program by overseeing daily operations, including recruitment, candidate vetting, onboarding, and advising on projects.
  • Developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract high-engagement candidates for the program.
  • Coordinating and creating resources such as toolkits, project templates, and educational materials to support Ambassadors’ projects and engagement, utilizing tools like Airtable and Canva.
  • Leading monthly calls with Panda Ambassadors to foster community engagement through updates, shout-outs, and challenges.
  • Driving engagement in the Panda Ambassador online community platform and ensuring that Ambassador activities align with broader campaign narratives.
  • Researching and recommending best practices and emerging technologies, tools, and tactics for activism and outreach.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of major Activism & Outreach events, including WWF’s annual Lobby Day and panel discussions with experts.
  • Managing the annual Youth Conservation Leadership Award application and review process, as well as engaging with awardees throughout the year.
  • Coordinating and implementing WWF's activism social media strategy, creating content, scheduling posts, and collaborating with other organizational channels on the @WWF_Act Instagram account. 1
  • Tracking and reporting on key engagement metrics to provide data-driven insights for improving program effectiveness. 1
  • Performing other duties as needed to support the organization's goals and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Activism and Outreach Specialist position include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in online advocacy or activism.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Canva and Airtable, as well as social media content creation for platforms like Instagram and X/Twitter.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent proactive communication skills, timely responsiveness, and the ability to foster collaboration across departments.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality communications and content.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Activism and Outreach Specialist position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
