Job Overview:
The National Forestry Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the GCF-funded project 'Carbon Sequestration through Climate Investment in Forests and Rangelands (CS-FOR)'. This position involves providing technical and project support under the supervision of the International Forestry Specialist and the National Project Coordinator. The specialist will be responsible for facilitating dialogues at various levels, organizing training sessions, and supporting the development of integrated natural resource management plans. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of project activities aimed at enhancing carbon sequestration and promoting sustainable forest management practices. The specialist will also contribute to the development of strategies that address climate change impacts and promote biodiversity conservation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Forestry Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to: providing technical support for training programs at the municipal level, participating in stakeholder dialogues, organizing workshops for stakeholder review and planning, supporting the development of Terms of Reference for consulting services, conducting technical discussions on biodiversity and environmental resources, and assisting in the preparation of reforestation and natural regeneration projects. The specialist will also engage in capacity-building activities, contribute to the development of guidelines for integrated natural resource management, and ensure adherence to the project’s work plan. Regular progress reporting and collaboration with various project partners will be essential to the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of experience in forest management, including forest monitoring and resource assessment, is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience working on national or regional forestry projects. Proficiency in Russian and Kyrgyz is mandatory, while knowledge of English at a B level is considered an asset. Candidates must be either nationals or residents of the Kyrgyz Republic or hold a valid work permit for the country.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field is essential for this position. This educational background provides the necessary knowledge and skills required for effective forest management and environmental conservation practices.

Experience:
The position requires a substantial level of experience, specifically at least 8 years in forest management, which includes expertise in forest monitoring, inventory, and resource assessment. Furthermore, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience working on national or regional projects related to forestry, demonstrating their ability to manage and implement forestry initiatives effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in Russian and Kyrgyz is mandatory for this position, as these languages are essential for communication with local stakeholders and project partners. Knowledge of English at a B level is considered beneficial, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and enhance the specialist's ability to engage in broader discussions related to forestry and environmental management.
