Job Overview: The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the ATHIS project, which aims to build capacity among professionals involved in social housing. The consultant will work closely with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams to develop training plans and materials tailored to various stakeholders, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture professionals. The position requires a strong focus on practical, hands-on learning experiences and the ability to adapt training content to local contexts. The consultant will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the training's effectiveness, ensuring that the methodologies employed are inclusive and sensitive to gender considerations. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between policy and practice in social housing, contributing to the overall mission of UN-Habitat to create inclusive and sustainable urban environments.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: 1) Supporting the development of the ATHIS training plan based on a needs assessment; 2) Creating training materials for three distinct modules aimed at different target audiences; 3) Delivering training sessions that emphasize practical learning; 4) Collaborating on the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy; 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions; 6) Developing a methodology handbook for Monitoring and Evaluation tools; 7) Engaging in collaborative training activities with CAU/SP professionals; 8) Designing assessment mechanisms to evaluate participant learning outcomes; 9) Preparing detailed reports on training activities; 10) Participating in field missions as required. The consultant must also complete a security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security course during the first month of employment and ensure compliance with UN security protocols.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or equivalent experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields is desirable. The role requires a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing, with a strong emphasis on capacity building and teaching. Experience in South-South Cooperation and familiarity with the public sector is advantageous. Proficiency in computer skills, project management methodologies, and online platforms is essential. The consultant should demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is mandatory. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in relevant fields such as Geography, Sociology, Law, or Public Policy will be given preference. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education requirements.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in urban development or social housing, particularly within Brazil. Experience in capacity building programs, teaching, and working with social housing initiatives is essential. Familiarity with South-South Cooperation and previous work with the United Nations is considered a plus.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is required for this position, as it is the primary working language in Brazil. A working knowledge of English is desirable, given that English and French are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in Spanish is also beneficial, particularly for collaboration within the Regional Office.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is part-time (48%) and is based locally in Brazil. The total remuneration for the consultant is BRL 15,000, distributed across four payments tied to the delivery of specific products. The contract duration is five months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. Only Brazilian nationals or those with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply.
