Job Overview:
The Driver position at the World Bank's Bissau Country Office is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the office and the effective delivery of the Bank's projects in Guinea-Bissau. The role involves providing reliable and professional transportation services, which are essential for the daily functions of the office. The Driver will be responsible for transporting teams to various meeting venues and field trips, adhering to high professional standards and World Bank procedures. This position requires a service-oriented individual who can manage competing schedules and adapt to a fast-paced environment, including field missions in challenging terrains. The Driver will report directly to the Resident Representative and will play a key role in maintaining the operational efficiency of the office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities that include: driving teams to meeting venues and field trips while maintaining a high level of professionalism; ensuring the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of staff during transportation; staying alert and proactive during senior management visits; maintaining the assigned vehicle in excellent condition, including cleanliness and regular inspections; collecting and delivering correspondences to government officials and stakeholders; following up on tax exemptions and vehicle registrations; and performing any additional tasks assigned by the Administrative Unit. The Driver must also anticipate mechanical issues to prevent breakdowns and ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma and have at least five years of driving experience, with a solid understanding of auto mechanics. A valid driver's license for 4x4 vehicles and minibuses is required, along with a recent fitness certificate. Familiarity with the geography of Guinea-Bissau and knowledge of neighboring countries in the Senegal Country Management Unit will be advantageous. Additional qualifications include a training certificate in first aid from the Red Cross, a certificate in auto mechanics, and experience working in an international institution. Proficiency in English and Portuguese, both spoken and written, is mandatory, and knowledge of MS Office is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma. Additional training in auto mechanics or relevant technical fields is considered an asset, as is a first aid training certificate from a recognized institution such as the Red Cross.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of driving experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols. Experience in an international organization or similar environment will be beneficial, as it indicates familiarity with the operational standards expected in such settings.

Languages:
Proficiency in Portuguese is mandatory due to the nature of the work and the local context, as all interactions with government officials and local partners will primarily be conducted in this language. English is also required, both spoken and written, to facilitate communication within the World Bank Group and with international stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered a plus but is not essential.
