Job Overview:
The Programme Associate - Nutrition position at WFP is designed to provide specialized support and technical analyses to policy and program activities that effectively meet food assistance needs. The role is critical in ensuring that WFP's nutrition response strategy is operationalized in Madagascar, aligning with global policies and guidelines. The job holder will be expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative, responding independently to various queries while managing resources and coaching support staff. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific area of work, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
  • Offer specialized project management support to specific programmes, ensuring activities are performed within established targets.
  • Prepare a range of reports and data analyses, highlighting trends and issues while ensuring adherence to corporate standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work.
  • Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions for accurate food security analyses.
  • Support capacity building of WFP staff and partners within the specific technical area.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving operational queries and problems.
  • Oversee and review the work of support staff, providing guidance to meet objectives. 1
  • Follow emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can respond quickly to crises. 1
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a post-secondary certificate related to Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture, Food Technology, Social Sciences, or related fields. A minimum of six years of relevant experience in the required field is essential. Fluency in French is mandatory, and knowledge of English is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of food assistance programs and possess the ability to analyze data and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education, along with a post-secondary certificate in a relevant field such as Nutrition, Public Health, Agriculture, Food Technology, Social Sciences, or other health-related sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of food assistance and nutrition programs.

Experience:
The role requires at least six years of relevant experience in the field of nutrition or related areas. Candidates with postgraduate professional experience in humanitarian or nutrition development contexts will be preferred. Experience in designing and implementing technical programs related to nutrition, as well as involvement in policy discussions, is highly desirable. Relevant field experience is also essential for this position.

Languages:
Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with local partners. Knowledge of English is considered an asset and may enhance communication with international stakeholders and partners.

This position is a Fixed-Term contract at Grade 6, with a duration of one year, renewable upon confirmation of the probationary period.
