Job Overview:
The Procurement Specialist position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Latin America and Caribbean Region (LCR) Procurement Unit. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Procurement Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: managing procurement activities for assigned operations, providing technical and fiduciary support throughout the project cycle, and seeking guidance on complex issues when necessary. The specialist will apply appropriate procurement methods and risk-based strategies to both routine and complex assignments. Key duties include advising Borrowers on procurement strategy, market engagement, and contract packaging; supporting the preparation and monitoring of procurement plans; reviewing technical, commercial, and legal aspects of procurement; providing operational advice on procurement policies and procedures; participating in implementation support missions; contributing to analytical work and policy dialogue; resolving procurement issues and implementation bottlenecks; designing and delivering training and capacity-building activities; preparing procurement-related documents and reports; and building effective working relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Procurement Specialist position must possess a Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Law, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Business, or Commerce, or an equivalent academic qualification. Additionally, a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in public procurement, international procurement, or procurement under international financial institution-financed operations is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with project implementation support and contract management, with experience in World Bank or Multilateral Development Bank projects being highly desirable. Strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential, along with a solid understanding of public procurement systems and the ability to translate procurement concepts into operational solutions.
