Job Overview: The Assistant Storekeeper position is crucial for ensuring the efficient management of warehouse operations. The role involves handling the receipt and dispatch of commodities, verifying their quality, and maintaining accurate records of warehouse transactions. The Assistant Storekeeper will support the implementation of best practices in storage management, ensuring compliance with WFP warehouse standards and guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to inventory management, with a focus on minimizing losses and maximizing the quality of operations. The Assistant Storekeeper will work closely with the warehouse team to ensure that all processes are executed smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall mission of WFP to provide effective humanitarian assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the receipt and dispatch of commodities, ensuring accuracy in physical counts and compliance with established standards.
Prepare and verify warehouse and transport documents, maintaining accurate records of commodity movements.
Conduct daily warehouse closing reconciliations and inventory checks in line with management requirements.
Perform inspections and prepare reports on the quality and quantity of commodities, escalating issues to the supervisor as necessary.
Implement measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities, ensuring quality control in accordance with WFP procedures.
Monitor warehouse conditions and optimize space utilization for effective commodity storage.
Undertake other related duties as assigned by the activity manager, contributing to the overall efficiency of warehouse operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of experience in inventory management and storekeeping, with a strong understanding of logistics-operations" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">logistics operations. Experience in supporting warehouse management and inventory management is essential. Proficiency in data entry and the ability to generate routine reports are required, along with familiarity with Excel and other MS Office applications. Knowledge of SAP is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to quality and efficiency in their work, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. Candidates with additional qualifications in logistics, supply chain management, or related fields will be viewed favorably, as they may bring additional insights and skills to the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant experience in inventory management and storekeeping. This experience should include monitoring logistics operations, supporting warehouse management, and managing inventory effectively. Familiarity with data entry processes and the ability to generate reports are also critical components of the required experience.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Urdu is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
