Job Overview: The position of Community UNV for Anticipatory Action is designed to support the operational roll-out and readiness activities of the Anticipatory Action project in Simanjiro District, Tanzania. The UNV will be instrumental in community-level sensitization regarding Anticipatory Action concepts and interventions, assisting in the collection and documentation of relevant data, and monitoring the progress of implementation. The UNV will work closely with the Anticipatory Action Programme Lead and will be based in Simanjiro, which currently lacks a WFP presence, necessitating strong local engagement and coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the operational roll-out and readiness activities of the Anticipatory Action project in Simanjiro District.
Facilitate coordination and engagement with district authorities, line departments, community leaders, and local stakeholders.
Support community-level sensitization and awareness on Anticipatory Action concepts and planned interventions.
Assist in the collection, verification, and documentation of baseline and operational data relevant to AA triggers and early actions.
Support planning and organization of meetings, trainings, and field activities at district and community levels.
Monitor implementation progress and provide regular field updates and reports to the WFP programme team.
Support identification of operational challenges and practical solutions during the start-up phase.
Ensure proper documentation of lessons learned and good practices to inform scale-up.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and community engagement skills, with the ability to work independently in remote settings. Flexibility and a willingness to travel frequently are essential, along with cultural sensitivity and professionalism. A commitment to UN values and humanitarian principles is also required.
