Job Overview: As Chief of Party I, you will lead and manage the McGovern Dole Food for Education (MGD/FFE) project, which aims to serve the poor and vulnerable populations in Honduras. Your role will involve ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming and advancing CRS's position as a leader in school feeding initiatives. You will be responsible for motivating and managing the project team, ensuring project success, and utilizing lessons learned for adaptive management. As a senior leader, you will also proactively manage and mitigate security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security risks, ensuring the safety and well-being of all staff involved in the project. This position requires a strategic approach to project implementation, ensuring compliance with donor expectations and requirements, and fostering collaboration among programmatic and operational leads.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will include leading the development, implementation, and consolidation of the MGD/FFE project. You will serve as the main point of contact for USDA and other stakeholders, ensuring that the project meets its goals and adheres to donor requirements. You will oversee budget management, ensuring compliance with USDA grants and managing program expenditures. Additionally, you will coordinate relationships with consortium partner organizations, facilitate communication strategies, and create an environment conducive to learning and quality improvements. You will also be responsible for staff management, including coaching, mentoring, and performance assessments, while ensuring adherence to CRS's safety and security policies. Risk management will be a key aspect of your role, requiring you to monitor national and regional issues that may impact programming and staff safety.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in international development, International Relations, or a relevant technical area, with a Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant management and technical experience is required, including at least 5 years of experience managing donor funds and multi-country grants. Strong knowledge and experience in budget management, as well as 5 years of staff management experience, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to create a learning environment and have experience coaching senior program staff. Preferred qualifications include recognition as a leader in the sector, demonstrated successful program management experience, and the ability to engage and strengthen partnerships.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in international development, International Relations, or a relevant technical area is required for this position. A Master’s degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in international development and humanitarian work.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant management and technical experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on managing donor funds and multi-country grants. Additional Notes: This position is classified as Key Personnel and is contingent on donor approval and funding. The role may involve travel up to 30%.
