Job Overview:
This position involves the role of a national expert tasked with drafting a project document focused on the constitution in service of the environment. The expert will be expected to engage in comprehensive research and analysis to ensure that the project aligns with environmental goals and constitutional frameworks. The role requires a deep understanding of both legal and environmental issues, as well as the ability to articulate these in a formal project document. The expert will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and insights that will inform the project’s objectives and outcomes. The position is expected to last for a period of three months, during which the expert will need to dedicate a total of sixty working days to the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
  • Conducting thorough research on constitutional issues related to environmental protection.
  • Collaborating with UNDP and other relevant stakeholders to gather data and insights.
  • Drafting a comprehensive project document that outlines the objectives, strategies, and expected outcomes of the project.
  • Ensuring that the project document adheres to UNDP standards and guidelines.
  • Engaging in discussions and consultations with legal and environmental experts to refine the project approach.
  • Submitting the final project document within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Providing updates and reports on progress to UNDP throughout the project duration.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in law, environmental science, or a related field. They should have proven experience in drafting legal documents or project proposals, particularly in the context of environmental governance. Familiarity with UNDP processes and standards is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with diverse teams.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in law, environmental science, public policy, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a PhD or equivalent experience in relevant fields will be given preference. Specialized training or certifications in environmental law or governance will also be advantageous.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in legal drafting, project management, or environmental policy development. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, will be considered a significant asset. Proven track record of successfully completing similar projects will enhance the candidate's profile.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and Arabic is mandatory, as the project will require communication and documentation in these languages. Proficiency in English is considered a strong asset, as it may be necessary for engaging with international stakeholders and accessing global resources.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a contract for a duration of three months, with a total of sixty working days required. The role is classified as an individual contractor position, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally.
