Job Overview: The position of Consultant for Gender Equality Outreach and Knowledge Support is designed to enhance the UNDP's efforts in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in Montenegro. The consultant will work closely with UNDP staff and partners to ensure that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of development work. The assignment is set to take place from June 5, 2026, to December 20, 2026, encompassing a total of 115 consultancy days, during which the consultant will be expected to deliver high-quality outputs that contribute to the overall goals of the UNDP in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting assessments of current gender equality initiatives and identifying gaps; developing outreach strategies to engage communities and stakeholders in gender equality efforts; providing technical support and guidance to UNDP staff on gender-related issues; facilitating workshops and training sessions to build capacity among local partners; preparing reports and documentation on gender equality progress and challenges; collaborating with other UN agencies and civil society organizations to promote gender equality; and ensuring that all activities are aligned with UNDP's policies and strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field. A proven track record of working on gender equality initiatives, particularly in the context of development projects, is essential. The consultant should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Familiarity with UNDP's policies and procedures, as well as experience in project management, will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's rights, and possess the ability to analyze complex issues and propose effective solutions.
Educational Background: A minimum of a master's degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD or equivalent experience in gender-related research or policy development will be given preference. Relevant certifications or training in gender equality and women's empowerment will also be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in gender equality and women's empowerment, with a focus on outreach and knowledge support. Experience working with international organizations, particularly within the UN system, is highly desirable. The consultant should have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and to deliver results under tight deadlines. Previous experience in Montenegro or the Balkan region will be considered a significant advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Montenegrin or Serbian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region will be considered a plus.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is part-time, with a total of 115 consultancy days spread over the assignment period.
