Job Overview:
This position involves designing and implementing six pilot initiatives aimed at enhancing the productive and commercial articulation of anchoveta products with added value for direct human consumption. The initiatives will be executed in the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, and Ica, with a strong emphasis on promoting women's participation in the fishing and aquaculture sectors. The contractor will be responsible for developing strategies that align with local market needs and ensuring that the initiatives are sustainable and beneficial for the communities involved. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the fishing industry, market dynamics, and the socio-economic factors affecting the regions involved. The contractor will also need to engage with local stakeholders, including producers and community organizations, to foster collaboration and ensure the successful implementation of the initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The contractor will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Design and implement six pilot initiatives that enhance the productive and commercial articulation of anchoveta products.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for value-added anchoveta products.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, including producers, community organizations, and government entities, to promote the initiatives.
  • Develop training materials and conduct workshops for producers on best practices in production, marketing, and sales.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of the initiatives, providing regular reports on outcomes and challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports, diagnostics, and field reports related to the initiatives.
  • Ensure that the initiatives promote gender equality and the participation of women in the fishing and aquaculture sectors.
  • Provide technical assistance to producers in developing markets and strengthening productive chains.
  • Engage in continuous communication with UNDP and other relevant parties to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Fisheries Engineering, Marine Biology, Aquaculture Engineering, Food Industry Engineering, Economics, Administration, or other related fields relevant to the consultancy's objectives.
  • Additional studies (courses, specializations, or diplomas) in at least one of the following areas: commercial management, marketing, sales, supply chain management, fishing regulations, or food safety.
  • A minimum of two years of general experience in the public and/or private sector related to the fishing, aquaculture, food, or productive development sectors.
  • At least one experience in productive articulation, commercial articulation, technical assistance to producers, market development, or strengthening productive chains in the fishing, aquaculture, or food sectors.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports, diagnostics, field reports, or analyses of productive and/or commercial processes with a territorial or sectoral focus.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Fisheries Engineering, Marine Biology, Aquaculture Engineering, Food Industry Engineering, Economics, or Administration. Additionally, candidates should have completed further studies in relevant areas such as commercial management, marketing, or food safety, which will enhance their ability to contribute effectively to the initiatives.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in the public or private sector, specifically in areas related to fishing, aquaculture, food production, or productive development. This experience should include at least one instance of working on productive or commercial articulation, providing technical assistance to producers, or developing markets within the relevant sectors.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, as the initiatives will be implemented in Peru. Knowledge of English or other languages may be considered an asset, particularly for engaging with international stakeholders or accessing additional resources.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 180 calendar days. The role is classified as an Individual Contractor position, and it is essential for candidates to be individuals rather than organizations. The position is based in Lima, Peru, and candidates are expected to engage with local communities and stakeholders throughout the implementation of the initiatives.
