Job Overview:
The position of Consultor Planes de Negocio PROCOMPITE involves providing individual consultancy services for the formulation of business plans aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of artisanal fishing organizations in the district of Atico, located in the Caravelí province of Arequipa Region, Peru. The consultant will be expected to engage with local communities, understand their socio-economic dynamics, and develop tailored business plans that align with sustainable development goals. This role requires a deep understanding of the fishing sector and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including local organizations and government entities, to ensure the successful implementation of business strategies that promote economic growth and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Conducting thorough assessments of the current business practices of artisanal fishing organizations in Atico.
  • Collaborating with local stakeholders to identify key areas for improvement and potential opportunities for growth.
  • Formulating comprehensive business plans that address the specific needs and challenges faced by the fishing organizations.
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance on project management and business development strategies.
  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of local community members in business management.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of implemented business plans and making necessary adjustments based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Preparing detailed reports and documentation of the consultancy process and outcomes for submission to UNDP and other relevant parties.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
  • A professional degree or bachelor's degree in economics, administration, accounting, food engineering, fishing engineering, industrial engineering, commercial engineering, biology, marine biology, or other related fields.
  • Completion of training, workshops, or courses in business plan formulation or management of productive or commercial projects focused on sustainable and competitive development of productive chains.
  • Proven experience in formulating and/or managing and/or evaluating business plans and/or investment projects, with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in formulating and/or evaluating productive and/or commercial business plans aimed at public or private competitive funds or international cooperation.
  • At least two (2) experiences in formulating business plans with a productive focus in collaboration with AEO under the PROCOMPITE framework.
  • Desirable prior experience working directly with artisanal fishing communities and knowledge of the socio-economic dynamics of the Atico district and the local fishing sector.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a professional degree or bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as economics, administration, accounting, food engineering, fishing engineering, industrial engineering, commercial engineering, biology, marine biology, or other related disciplines. Additional certifications or training in business management, project management, or sustainable development practices will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in the formulation, management, or evaluation of business plans and investment projects is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with productive organizations and should be able to demonstrate their experience through documented projects and outcomes. Experience in the fishing sector and with local communities is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the consultancy will involve direct communication with local stakeholders and communities. Proficiency in English or other languages may be considered an advantage, particularly for documentation and reporting purposes.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an individual contractor role, which means it is intended for natural persons rather than organizations.
