Job Overview: The position of Infrastructure / Civil Works Engineer (National Consultant) is crucial for the successful implementation of the Enhancing Social Cohesion in Moldova through dialogue and community empowerment Phase II (SCPI-II) Project. The selected candidate will provide expert consultancy services to ensure that infrastructure works are executed effectively and efficiently. This role requires a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, project management, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government entities, local communities, and other partners. The consultant will be expected to assess project requirements, develop technical specifications, oversee construction activities, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Additionally, the consultant will play a key role in facilitating communication between the UNDP and local authorities, ensuring that the project aligns with national development goals and community needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Infrastructure / Civil Works Engineer will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: conducting site assessments and feasibility studies; preparing detailed engineering designs and technical specifications for infrastructure projects; managing and supervising construction activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets; coordinating with contractors and subcontractors to facilitate smooth project execution; ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards; conducting quality control inspections and addressing any issues that arise during construction; preparing progress reports and documentation for UNDP and stakeholders; providing technical guidance and support to project teams; and engaging with community members to gather feedback and ensure that their needs are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications, including a degree in civil engineering or a related field, with a focus on infrastructure development. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in civil engineering, particularly in infrastructure projects, is required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in project management methodologies and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with local construction practices and regulations in Moldova is essential. Additionally, candidates should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual consultancy contract, with a specific focus on the duration of the project.
