Job Overview: The Facilitator for the Fiji Women’s Political Participation Programme will play a crucial role in enhancing women's political engagement and representation in Fiji. This position involves facilitating workshops, training sessions, and discussions aimed at empowering women to participate actively in political processes. The facilitator will work closely with local communities, government bodies, and civil society organizations to promote awareness and understanding of women's rights and political participation. The role requires a deep understanding of the socio-political landscape in Fiji, as well as the challenges and barriers that women face in accessing political opportunities. The facilitator will also be responsible for developing training materials and resources that are culturally relevant and effective in addressing the needs of women in Fiji.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and deliver training sessions and workshops focused on women's political participation and leadership skills.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify key issues and barriers to women's political engagement.
Develop and adapt training materials that are culturally appropriate and relevant to the target audience.
Facilitate discussions and forums that encourage women's voices and perspectives in political matters.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments based on feedback.
Provide ongoing support and mentorship to women participants to help them navigate the political landscape.
Prepare reports and documentation on the progress and outcomes of the program.
Engage with media and communication channels to promote the program and its objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in facilitating training and workshops, particularly in the context of women's empowerment and political participation.
Strong understanding of gender issues and the political landscape in Fiji.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government, NGOs, and community groups.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for training and communication.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, political science, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Additional certifications in facilitation, training, or gender equality would also be beneficial.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in facilitation, training, or capacity building, particularly in the area of women's political participation and empowerment. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs focused on gender issues is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Fijian or Hindi would be an asset, as it would facilitate better communication with local communities and participants.

This is a consultancy role, and the facilitator will be expected to work independently while coordinating with UNDP and other stakeholders. The role is part-time, and the consultant will be compensated based on the deliverables outlined in the contract. The position may involve travel within Fiji to various training locations.
