Job Overview: As a Nutrition Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for nutrition programs/projects within the Child Nutrition and Development Section of the Country Programme. Your responsibilities will span from development planning to the delivery of results, ensuring effective implementation of various technical and administrative tasks. You will be instrumental in facilitating program development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results. This position is vital for achieving the section's nutrition service delivery outputs, particularly in areas such as the prevention and management of severe wasting, vitamin A supplementation, nutrition supply chain management, community and school nutrition services, and nutrition in emergencies. Your work will directly contribute to improving the nutritional status of children and mothers in the region, making a significant impact on public health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the development and planning of nutrition programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and local needs.
Manage and monitor program implementation, ensuring timely delivery of results and adherence to quality standards.
Provide technical and operational support to facilitate effective program implementation, including training and capacity building for local partners.
Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to enhance program reach and effectiveness.
Engage in innovation and knowledge management to improve program strategies and outcomes, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
Contribute to the evaluation of program effectiveness and impact, utilizing data to inform decision-making and future planning.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in fields such as nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, or another health-related science field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong skills in public health, program management, monitoring, evaluation, and nutrition planning, which are essential for success in this role.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in relevant fields such as nutrition, public health, or health sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of nutrition programs and their impact on child health and development.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a developing country is required. This experience should encompass areas such as nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant, and child health/nutrition care. Candidates with experience in health/nutrition program/project development within a UN system agency or organization will have an advantage, particularly those with relevant experience in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or Swahili is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration in diverse environments.
