Job Overview: The position of Statistician (National) is crucial for the UNDP's operations in South Sudan. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Statistician (National) include but are not limited to:
Collecting and managing data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Analyzing statistical data using appropriate methodologies and software tools.
Preparing comprehensive reports that summarize findings and provide actionable recommendations.
Collaborating with project teams to integrate statistical insights into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and evaluation.
Developing and maintaining databases to track key performance indicators and other relevant metrics.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP's data management policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in statistics or a related field, with proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, R, or Stata. A solid understanding of data management principles and practices is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to effectively convey statistical findings to diverse audiences.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for the position. Candidates should have a strong foundation in statistical theory and practice, as well as experience in data analysis and interpretation.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in statistical analysis or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in a development context is highly desirable. Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of South Sudan and previous work in the region will be considered an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNDP. Knowledge of local languages spoken in South Sudan is considered a valuable asset, as it can facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance data collection efforts.
Additional Notes: This position is for a fixed term of 190 working days, and it is classified as an individual contractor role. The position is full-time, and candidates may be required to work flexible hours to meet project deadlines.
