Job Overview:
The National Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNDP Vietnam's activities related to LGBTI inclusion and other diversity and inclusion initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to project design and implementation, ensuring that all activities align with UNDP's standards and contribute to the overall mission of promoting equality and inclusion for the LGBTI community in Vietnam. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and community groups, to foster collaboration and enhance the impact of the projects. The consultant will also engage in youth empowerment initiatives, facilitating discussions and events that promote legal awareness and advocacy for LGBTI rights. This role is vital in addressing the existing gaps in legal recognition and protections for LGBTI individuals and advocating for necessary legislative changes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Implementing LGBTI inclusion activities, ensuring adherence to UNDP's quality standards.
  • Coordinating with partners and stakeholders to facilitate collaboration on LGBTI-related projects.
  • Contributing to the design and development of projects focused on LGBTI inclusion and health equity.
  • Organizing and facilitating events such as youth discussions, moot courts, and conferences related to legal issues affecting the LGBTI community.
  • Providing administrative and technical support for activities under the LGBTI and Diversity and Inclusion portfolio.
  • Monitoring and evaluating project activities to assess their effectiveness and impact.
  • Preparing reports and documentation related to project activities and outcomes.
  • Engaging with youth to promote empowerment and awareness of legal rights and protections.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of LGBTI issues and rights, particularly within the Vietnamese context. They should have experience in project management, particularly in areas related to human rights, diversity, and inclusion. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with various stakeholders. The consultant should demonstrate a commitment to promoting equality and inclusion, with a proven track record of working with marginalized communities. Familiarity with UNDP's operational standards and procedures is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, law, human rights, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid academic background that supports their understanding of the complexities surrounding LGBTI rights and inclusion.

Experience:
The position requires at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in project management, advocacy, or consultancy roles focused on human rights, diversity, and inclusion. Experience working with LGBTI communities or organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Languages:
Fluency in both Vietnamese and English is mandatory, as the consultant will be required to communicate effectively with local stakeholders and produce documentation in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the LGBTI community in Vietnam may be considered an asset.

The contract duration for this position is set for 241 working days over a period of 12 months, starting from July 2026 and concluding in June 202
