Job Overview: The Extended Term Temporary Staff position at the World Bank Office in Ankara is designed to provide essential administrative and logistical support to project teams. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of various projects, particularly in the context of Turkey's ongoing development initiatives. The selected candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks that facilitate the effective functioning of the office and support the project teams in their efforts to implement development programs. This includes organizing meetings, managing schedules, and assisting with documentation and communication. The position requires a proactive individual who can handle multiple responsibilities and contribute to the overall success of the team. The role also emphasizes the importance of collaboration and teamwork, as the candidate will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials and other team members, to achieve project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Extended Term Temporary Staff include, but are not limited to:
Providing comprehensive office support within project teams, including organizing mission agendas, drafting correspondence, and coordinating meetings with government representatives.
Assisting in the logistical planning of events such as conferences and workshops, ensuring all necessary arrangements are made for successful execution.
Supporting project teams in proofreading and translating documents, ensuring clarity and accuracy in communication.
Managing data filing systems and responding to requests for data collection and information retrieval.
Acting as the STEP (Systematic Tracking of Exchanges in Procurement) Focal Point, providing training and troubleshooting support as needed.
Collaborating with other administrative colleagues to ensure seamless office operations and support for various initiatives.
Demonstrating superior organizational skills to manage diverse tasks and priorities effectively.
Engaging with clients and stakeholders in a professional manner, ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent communication skills in both English and Turkish, both verbal and written. A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge of advanced features in these applications, such as Macros in Excel and advanced graphic capabilities in PowerPoint, is essential. The ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain high-quality standards in work output is critical. Candidates should also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration within a diverse team environment. Familiarity with institutional policies and procedures relevant to the World Bank's operations is an advantage, as is a commitment to client service and results-driven performance.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required for this position. The educational background should ideally include studies in administration, business management, or a related discipline that equips the candidate with the necessary skills to perform administrative and logistical tasks effectively. Additional certifications or training in project management or office administration may be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to perform administrative tasks in a professional setting. Previous experience in a similar role within an international organization or a governmental agency is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with the World Bank's operations and development projects will be considered an asset.

Additional Notes: This position is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal at the discretion of the World Bank Group. The maximum duration for an Extended Term appointment is three years. Candidates must be authorized to work in Turkey and preference will be given to local talent.
