Job Overview: The Operations Analyst position at the World Bank in Kuala Lumpur is a critical role within the East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Social Policy team. Duties and Responsibilities: The Operations Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Contributing to the preparation and delivery of analytical and advisory work in social protection, labor markets, and skills development. This involves assisting in the design of analytical frameworks, reviewing technical materials, and drafting reports and policy notes.
Supporting quantitative and qualitative analytical work by managing datasets, conducting statistical analyses, and synthesizing findings into clear outputs. This includes literature reviews and preparing presentations to communicate results effectively.
Assisting in the organization of policy dialogue and stakeholder engagement activities, including drafting background notes and coordinating inputs from stakeholders.
Contributing to cross-sectoral tasks with other Global Practices, ensuring social policy perspectives are integrated into broader analytical work.
Supporting communication with internal and external stakeholders, preparing for missions, and maintaining project documentation for knowledge management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in economics, labor economics, development economics, or a closely related field. Additionally, at least two years of relevant professional experience in analytical work, research, or technical support in areas such as labor markets, skills development, or social protection is required. Experience in international organizations, government agencies, or consulting firms is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to contribute to analytical reports and policy notes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in statistical and data analysis tools such as Excel and STATA. Familiarity with programming languages like R or Python is advantageous. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in teams while managing tasks independently.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, labor economics, or development economics. This advanced degree should be complemented by coursework or practical experience in analytical methods, statistical analysis, and public policy, which are crucial for the role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least two years of relevant professional experience. This experience should ideally be in analytical roles that involve research, technical support, or policy analysis in the fields of labor markets, skills development, or social protection.
