Job Overview:
The Programme Management Assistant will provide essential programmatic, administrative, and communication support to the AMEP Sub-Programme, specifically focusing on the Water Quality Capacity Development Project. This role is home-based and expected to last for six months. The individual will be required to dedicate half of their time to advancing communications-related tasks that support the Water Quality Capacity Development Project, while the other half will be spent providing program management support to the Assessment and Management of Environmental Pollution (AMEP) subprogramme. The position requires a proactive approach to managing communications, project planning, monitoring, and implementation, as well as ensuring compliance with UNEP and UN regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Management Assistant include: A. Communications and Outreach Support: Providing substantive support for the development and implementation of communications, advocacy, and outreach initiatives related to the Water Quality Capacity Development Project. This includes drafting, editing, and publishing digital content for the Secretariat’s website and social media platforms, ensuring alignment with UNEP and UN communications policies. The assistant will also coordinate with program staff and partners to collect communications materials and design promotional materials. B. Project Planning, Monitoring, and Implementation Support: Assisting in the coordination and monitoring of the programme of work and project activities, including planning, scheduling, and tracking implementation progress. C. Project Documentation, Compliance, and Reporting: Reviewing project and contractual documents for completeness and compliance, identifying inconsistencies, and supporting the preparation of internal and donor reports. D. Knowledge Management and Data Support: Collecting and maintaining data related to project implementation and performance indicators, and organizing project knowledge products. E. Administrative and Office Support: Providing general office support, responding to information requests, and assisting in organizing meetings and workshops. G. Other Duties: Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. Supplementary training in Administration and Programme or Project Management or Communications is desirable. A minimum of five years of progressive work experience in administration and programme or project management or a related area is required. Proven experience in social media management and communications is highly desirable, along with experience working with international organizations and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Experience with environmental programmes and projects in the Wider Caribbean Region is also desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in Administration, Programme or Project Management, or Communications is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of progressive work experience in administration and programme or project management or a related area. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Experience with international organizations and environmental projects is particularly valuable.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, and knowledge of Spanish is desirable, which may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
